Received a call from 02 5003 4306? This number is associated with a scam attempting to solicit money for a non-existent Amazon Prime renewal. Learn how to handle such calls effectively.
If you've received a call from 02 5003 4306, it's important to understand the risks involved. Based on user reports, this number has been classified as a scam, specifically a phishing attempt impersonating Amazon.
On 17 April 2023, a user reported receiving a call claiming that their Amazon Prime membership was up for renewal at an unauthorized price of $99. The legitimate Amazon Prime membership costs significantly less, making this call suspicious from the start. This tactic has been identified as a common strategy employed by fraudsters to obtain personal and financial information.
Fraudsters frequently spoof numbers, making it challenging to identify genuine calls. This particular tactic, where callers impersonate well-known companies, is designed to create a sense of urgency and fear, compelling the target to act quickly without questioning the legitimacy of the call.
So, how should you handle calls from 02 5003 4306 or similar numbers?
- Do Not Engage: If you suspect a call is a scam, it's best to hang up immediately.
- Verify Independently: If the caller claims to represent a legitimate company, hang up and contact the company directly using their official contact information.
- Report the Call: Consider reporting the scam to relevant authorities, such as the ACCC or SCAMwatch, to help spread awareness and protect others.
- Use Reverse Phone Lookup: Services like Reverseau can help you identify unknown numbers and check if they have been reported by other users as fraudulent.
In conclusion, 02 5003 4306 is clearly a number involved in dubious activities. Always exercise caution and be proactive in verifying any suspicious communications. Remember, legitimate companies will never ask for personal information or payment details over the phone.

Just had a call from that number saying they were Amazon and renewing my Prime membership for $99. Prime is $59 in first place and it was renewed last February, so definitely a scam call from that number, spoofed perhaps.
