The caller hung up when I answered the phone. After listening to the message and calling back, I noticed there was a strong Asian accent involved. With it being tax season, I'm not surprised to encounter these types of callers, as scammers seem to target people around tax time.
I received a call from a scammer who claimed that my Visa card had been used fraudulently. The problem is, I don’t even own a Visa card.
I did not answer this call, but a recorded message was left on my voicemail. When I listened, the message was in Chinese, leading me to believe it is part of a scam operation.
A caller pretending to be from Telstra claimed my internet had been hacked. I found this concerning, especially since I am not a Telstra customer at all, which raised alarm bells about the legitimacy of the call.
