Why is 02 4238 5987 / 0242385987 Considered Suspicious?

This tactic is a common strategy employed by scammers to appear credible and trustworthy.

Detecting Common Signs of Scam Calls

There are a few telltale signals that can help you determine if a call is suspicious:

  • Frequency of unsolicited calls from various numbers claiming to be from the same entity.

How to Handle Calls from 02 4238 5987

If you receive a call from this number or a similar one claiming to offer services or urgent information, here’s what you can do:

One of many ‘Australian based’ calls that are actually originating from overseas, likely Africa. They purport to be from the National Broadband Network, or the ATO or any myriad of organisations - they want access to your computer, and will get there if you fall for their promises. The best way to tell if the ‘Australian Number’ calling you is in fact from overseas is if you have a look at YOUR number that this one is calling, you will notice that your number will have a +61 prefix added to it, which is proof that this is coming from OS. I have had heaps in the past few days, so no doubt my data has been sold off somewhere.
