I received a call from a scam call center, which raises concerns about why the government does not take stronger action against these operations.
Repeated calls over 1 week period - don’t know anyone in this location, so didn’t answer what is obviously a bogus call.
I received an automated call that started with a message about an "academic emergency notice." The options were to press 1 if you are English or 2 if you are Chinese. I didn't answer the call directly; it went to my voicemail, and I heard the message after. I chose not to press any buttons and later blocked the number.
I was contacted by a caller who was looking for Chinese students. It seemed clearly suspicious and I suspect this call is part of a scam targeting this demographic.
Definitely an attempted scam. Left a message “if you are Australian press 1. If you are a Chinese student press 2”
