SCAMMERS POSING AS PayPal SECURITY!!!
Had “Roger” (African sounding male) call to ask me for my:
Full name; address; phone number and email address.
All apparently needed for him to verify the $900 PayPal charge was legit.
Told him I don’t use PayPal so he must have the wrong person.
Yelled at me that I needed to give him my name, address, phone number and email.
I said “if you were REALLY from PayPal security, wouldn’t need to ask me these questions”
I then terminated the call and blocked.
🚨🚨🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨🚨🚨
Just received a call from this number (a New Zealand number - only answered it as I have family over there on holiday)
The male with african accent claimed to be from PayPal security. Said I had a suspicious $900 charge.
He wanted my full name and email address. Said I flat out refuse to give my name as he supposedly has my details.
I asked him to say my name.
He said he couldn’t due to “privacy reasons”
I replied “well I’m not giving it to you for privacy reasons”
He asked for my email address, so to toy with the guy, gave a fake one: f*ku@outlook.com.
He asked me how to say it. I said work it out for yourself.
He then said “oh yes, I see you have 5 bank accounts linked to your email address. Now, tell me what sort of phone you use”
I said “what does my phone have to do with my non existent PayPal account?”
He said “I need the IP address from your ‘cell’ phone”
I told him “I don’t have a mobile phone”
(All while this was going on I could hear a couple of other guys in the background screaming similar phrases as my caller “Brian”)
He told me “you DO have a ‘cell’ phone”
I screamed “I don’t - I have a very old fixed landline, and it is a rotary phone, so please tell me where I find this IP address you say is connected to my phone?”
He then said “I need you to hold the line while I transfer you to my supervisor, you are one very difficult customer”
I said “I’m NOT a “customer”, I have no links to PayPal, I never have and don’t ever plan to. I’m a little old lady who is just sitting here with no life, waiting to fall off the perch”
He then got even more aggressive, so I told him where he could shove his $900 attempted PayPal scam (in terms and words I do not wish to repeat here 😆 PS: I’m not a little old lady - just a bum with nothing better to do)
I then hung up and blocked.
