This phone call was a scam. It came after I encountered a pop-up on my computer featuring a woman’s voice stating that my PC had frozen and that I must call this number. I researched it online and found similar stories on YouTube. I decided to ignore their advice—did not call the 1800 number they provided and simply shut down my PC. Thankfully, the issue seems to have resolved itself.
This is a scam. They try to lock your computer and say that they are Microsoft Technical Support - do not fall for it. If you call them, they will constantly call you back, even if you block the number. You will then receive multiple calls from a private number. Just reboot your computer and run a scan, I would also change passwords.
The number +611800959862 purports to be a microsoft help number after threatening to close off internet access. This is not a microsoft number.
