I couldn't access my old yahoo account and forgot my passwords & all security answers. Then I googled yahoo support number and found this ‭1800 958 211‬. When I called, it was weird because normally the operator of big companies will say "Thank you for calling Yahoo Support etc" but this time, the operator just straight away saying "Your call is very important to us. Please bare on the line. We will connect you to the next AVAILABLE-LATION" LOL! What an English!

1. My call got answered really fast by Indian guy. He asked me to pay $200 to retrieve my email & password. I asked why and he hung up.

2. I called again for 4 times. He didn't answer! WHAT A SCAM!

I couldn't access Norton website from the NOrton icon as usual so I had to Google Norton support and this website showed up [link] I called the number in it 1800958211... They prentended and identified them as NORton and so I naively allow them to remote access to my computer. They bullied me and insulted me then threaten to block them if I don't let them do their job. They made a list of things they had to do to fix my computer and tried to justify that I needed to pay money. When I told them I didn't have money and question why should I pay money for a problem that a previous Norton person did. As previously a Norton person add some software in my computer.

There was something wrong as the guy was threatening.

I called the main office of Norton in Sydney to report the incident and have someone from Norton call me to find out what happened. When I talked to the receptionist of Symantic Australia in Sydney, I also asked her for the Norton technical support number and it was different to this. I also asked if that was the only number and it is. So the website and the people answering to 1800958211 turned out to be scammers pretending being from Norton. I learned valuable lessons here that I had no way to know because I have been a Norton 360 customer for 10 years and I have never had a problem like this.

Lessons learned.

1) NORTON TECHNICAL PEOPLE WILL NEVER ASK YOU FOR MONEY.

2) WHEN YOU CAN NOT GET ACCESS TO THE NORTON WEBSITE FOLLOWING THE PROMPTS FROM THE ICON, DON'T SEARCH IT IN GOOGLE... FIND THE MAIN OFFICE NUMBERS IN SYDNEY OR MELBOURNE AND CALL DIRECTLY AND GET THE NUMBER FROM THERE.

3) I HAVE SAVED THE OFFICIAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT NUMBER IN MY MOBILE CONTACTS, ON MY NOTES MOBILES AND COMPUTER. SO THAT I HAVE IT READY TO CALL IN CASE I NEEDED.

4) START A LIST OF CASE NUMBERS TO KEEP TRACK OF AND USE THEM TO MAKE SURE THAT THE NORTON PEOPLE ARE WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE. THEY WILL HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR LAST CASE NUMBER IF THEY DON'T THEN THEY ARE NOT FROM NORTON.

5) QUESTION WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY DID SO THAT YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON YOUR COMPUTER.

6) REPORT TO NORTON AND PROVIDE THEM WITH ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCAMMERS, WEBSITE, TELEPHONE NUMBER ETC.

The person claims that you are speaking with Norton Australia and it is not so. The company is Macpatchers Pty Ltd. The original person answering the number claims he is from Norton and then says they subcontract their work to Macpatchers P/L.
