Identifying the Suspicious Nature of 1800 806 702

The phone number 1800 806 702 / 00806702 has raised eyebrows amongst Australian users, with reports indicating it as a suspicious telemarketer impersonating the NRMA (National Roads and Motorists' Association). Users have noted unusual behaviour from callers claiming affiliation with NRMA while addressing sensitive issues such as recent car accidents.

User Experiences Raise Red Flags

In one notable review dated 27 May 2017, a user reported receiving a call from a person with a German accent who seemed to have intimate knowledge of their NRMA claim number—information that should be securely handled. This raises significant concerns about privacy and potential scams.

Understanding the Risks

The impersonation of trusted entities like NRMA is a common tactic used by telemarketers aiming to gather personal information or offer dubious services. Given the timing of the call—just after a legitimate NRMA assessment—the incident becomes even more alarming.

What Should You Do?

If you receive a call from 1800 806 702 / 00806702, it’s prudent to approach the situation with caution:

  • Do Not Disclose Personal Information: Avoid giving out sensitive data like your claim number, address, or banking details.
  • Hang Up: If the call feels suspicious, it’s best just to hang up and report the incident.
  • Verify Independently: If you believe the call could be legitimate, contact NRMA directly using their official channels, not the numbers provided during the call.

Staying Vigilant

As more and more Australians utilise services like Reverseau for a Reverse Phone Lookup in Australia, maintaining vigilance against potential scams becomes essential. Familiarise yourself with reported numbers and share experiences with others to help inform the community. If you're ever caught wondering, "Who Called Me Australia?", leveraging user reports on numbers like 1800 806 702 / 00806702 can aid in discerning genuine calls from unscrupulous attempts.

Claims to be from NRMA, has a German accent and has somehow obtained the NRMA claim number of my recent car accident which was already settled by the NRMA. You have to wonder how secure the NRMA system is if this piece of shit was able to get my claim number. NRMA needs to tighten up their security in the claims department. I also got the "have you been involved in a car accident recently?" call just 30 minutes after the NRMA assessor rang to say he had written off my car. Just a coincidence said the NRMA. Really??
