WELL, lucky I did a reverse phone lookup!

I hardly ever pick up the landline number, due to excessive amount of telemarketers.

I happened to pick it up this time, expecting a call from someone else, but instead had a lady named "Amber" who hesitantly said this:

"Hi, is this owner from (stated my address)?" in which I, of course, replied 'yes'. She proceeded to say the following:

"I have a bit of strange request, could you please have owners of (stated my next door neighbours address) to give me a call on 1800 708 124 with reference number 46XXXXXXXXX?".

I told her of course, as I thought she was quite lovely and perhaps she genuinely couldn't get a hold of my neighbours.

Well since this seems like an extremely strange request, sorry "Amber" I hope your urgent matter continues to loop around! Stop harassing innocent people with these bloody tactics!

I worked for them and whilst the Adelaide Operations Manager is an absolute pig, her name is Pip and I'm sure she's never even made a phone call herself to understand her position. Most of the people calling are actually nice people. Yes they'll call your neighbours and they'll call your employment, your previous employment, people that live on your street, your property manager, etc. Apparently they can do this! I don't believe it is ethical like they claim they are. If you go on an arrangement they'll leave you alone, so just do that. $5 a week will suffice. If you ignore them, they'll keep calling. They legally can call you five times a day, or so they say. They do get payed commission on the amount of payments made in full or at a discount and everything is a stat from the arrangements to the amount of calls they make in a day. They'll call themselves the CLH group and then once they've identified you, they'll admit that they're Lion Finance. When you question what's the CLH group, you'll hear "we're a diverse group of companies". Ignore them for seven years and your account will be stat barred which means cleared and no more calls. Better yet, tell them you'll report them to the ombudsman and they'll leave you alone.

Had a call a few days ago asking about the neighbours 2 door up. Did not give them any info said I couldn't help them. Came home today and had a message to call Justin on this number and quote a reference number. It was the same voice as the previous call. I deleted the message and have made no contact.

They called our business trying to get a hold of one of our employees. Sounds like a scam with the limited details he had.

HOW FINANCE COMPANIES GET YOU TO.

PARTICIPATE IN HARASSING YOUR NEIGHBOURS.

You get a phone call asking for you by name and asking if you live at xx on your street. Whether or not you confirm this they will tell you they trying to contact a neighbour at yy on your street and they will give you the first name of your neighbour. The caller will ask you to drop a note in the neighbour’s letter box asking them to phone an individual on an 1800 708 124 number. They will tell you it is a business related matter and the privacy laws forbid them from giving you any further details. When you ask why they just don’t phone the neighbour, they give you a plausible why they haven’t been able to make contact.

If they convince enough of the neighbours they will succeed in harassing the neighbour into calling them.

We have received these calls.

Yes... very strange. No business name just a number to call and a reference number. Phoned the number and got computer hold - but still not one mention of who they are....
