I've noticed a concerning message that appears alongside a merchant name in my PayPal account activity. This message directed me to call the number 1800 574 175. I believe this is part of a dangerous scam attempt.
This caller attempted to charge my PayPal account without my consent, which raises serious concerns about potential fraud.
Same number. Same PayPal money request, then cancellation. Trying to scare you into calling the number to prevent the transaction and then most likely asking for personal information. Checked my funding source. No money was transferred. The cancellation email is obvious that it's a scam. Removed the email address used by the scammers from PayPal.
I also received the same via PayPal in the past 24 hours.
