Definitely a scam, I know people who work for NAB and called them. Do not ever answer these calls, if needed you can always call the bank themselves to check but find their number, don't use one that has been given you in a message and never never send anyone money or give a/c details.
Received a text message stating my NAB Web access OTP was?? And if I have not generated this please contact 1800 496 982. I called and a man answered and said some one must have opened an account in my name from Darwin. I said definitely not me and I don't bank with NAB. He didn't ask me any personal questions just my name and then said he would refer to cyber crimes and that he would let my other bank know and asked who that was. I asked him his name and he said Michael. Michael Litchfield. I said thanks and I would let my bank know and hung up. Have referred the number to www.cyber.gov. Au and police.
Received a message from this number saying "Your One-Time Passcode for your NAB web access is 689733. If you have NOT generated this please contact us immediately on 1800 496 982"
I have never banked with NAB. Never had an account lol.
I got scammed of $50, they told me to send money to them to create new BSB and account number.
Another day, another scammer! This number tried their luck with a dodgy story about a suspicious transaction. Not buying it for a second. What a waste of time! Blocked, and good riddance!
This lot's definitely from a scam call centre, fishing for your details or cash. Don’t fall for their dodgy tricks!
Received a text message from a NAB number that I had received legitimate messages from prior stating 'you have authorised a secondary device location: DARWIN. If you did NOT initiate this get in touch on 1800 496 982'. I called and a british man named Nigel answered. As soon as he asked me to read out my card details I hung up. This is definitely not legitimate.
Scammer I called the number and a British guy said he was from Nab and asked me to identify myself and was asking for my nab id. He said I’ve been compromised and need to reset my bsb number with them. I hung up. Dodgy cnts.
Today I received a suspicious text to call 1800 496 982 supposedly from National Australia Bank (NAB) however I got suspicious as I no longer hold an account with the said bank.
Received a text message claiming to be from Westpac asking to call this number if I did not initiate "authorising a secondary device location".
I called Westpac using the contact number listed on their website (and NOT the dodgy number from the text message), and sure enough this is a sophisticated spammer spoofing the Westpac number.
If you call this number, they even play a message at the start claiming to be the Westpac support line. Sneaky buggers!
Stay well clear and ignore if you receive a similar message.
Just got a dodgy text saying it was from Westpac asking me to call this number for some weird "authorization" stuff. Called the legit number from their official site instead and yep, total scam—just a bunch of crooks trying to spoof. Serious warning here!
Don't even think about calling back this number! They sent dodgy messages pretending to be from Westpac Bank—calling them could lead you right into a trap, mate!
