Answered the phone on the third time a Private Number called me, was an automated call from Dept Human Services Compliance Program, followed prompts to talk to a lady who wanted to check my employment details. She asked for my full name to which I responded I was not comfortable giving my information to someone calling from a private number. She gave me this number to call back which I then Googled. The Human Services website was at the top of the search page, the phone number is displayed in the 'phone us' section on their website. She knew I had recently submitted a tax declaration form. Seems legit to me.
Its not a scam, if you don't answer the call you will get a letter advising to call centrelink on that same number to check your income was reported correctly. If you don't, your payments get suspended till you do, pretty straight forward.
The number 1800194053 is not a scam THE COMPLIANCE DEPT is part of THE HUMAN SERVICES it is very easy this number is what is called an auto dialler it calls centrelink customer who have employment reviews pending and the connects to compliance department. Very easy to indentity as you will get a reference and APS ID of the employee. People who get caleed and get caught out are the ones complaining.
It's an automated message stating they're calling from behalf of Centrelink regarding employment circumstances. Press 1 to be transferred to an official. I hung up after the automated messages the first two times, on the third time I decided to press one. A lady with a slight accent picked up. She asked for my full name and date of birth to confirm my details with her, I asked, "how do I know you're from centrelink?" To which she gave me this number, a quick Google search led me here... Something smells fishy.
I received a no caller ID call that I thought was suss. They gave me the above number to call on, looking up here thought it was even susser until I phoned Centrelink direct to inform them and the said it was an unpublished number and all good.
I got a call from some woman claiming to be from centerlink and watning to know details about my current employment to fill in some details she spoke decent english from this number 1800-194-053 it almost sounded legit but I don't trust people who randomly call and ask for details to confirm things before they will even tell me who they really are or what the call is about.
I mentioned you are calling me you know who it is and what number you called just tell me no luck so I said im calling centerlink a 13 number and asked which department to ask for.
Apparently a letter is going to be sent about this issue in 2 weeks so we will see if its real or how fake it was.
What Police or AFP is doing about this identity theft?
I received same call with same return number. In my case was a woman and she was unable to speak English.
Centrelink, Police or AFP should do something about these kind of issues and fraud.
I have just spent 30 minutes stupidly looking for pay slips etc. The chaps name was Abdule. He had all of my information, all of my employment details, centrelink CRN, so I assumed he was from centrelink. I have been scammed good and proper. I looked at the number after the call as I was supposed to call him back.
An obvious scam, two phone calls in two days from this number pretending to be from Centreline and asking for you to confirm employment details. When I asked for a name, the bloke called himself Pawandeep, the call sounded from overseas, there was distance. When I asked for a receipt number for the call, Pawandeep said "only if you provide me with some information can I give you a receipt number." HANG UP IMMEDIATELY and do not give out any information. Centrelink have all your details already and will only send you a letter or request you visit their offices in person to supply any details that they may require.
Received an online letter in MyGov telling me to call this number to confirm that my Centrelink income reporting details are correct, the second time I've had to do this in the last couple of months. I think it's ridiculous that Centrelink requires you to do this. I have severe anxiety about talking on the phone (especially when making phone calls), and it would be much better if Centrelink just had me come in with my payslips.
I have just done some investigating and there is some dodgy things going on. But if you ring centrelink direct they can put you through. Well they put me through and it was legit. And they was told that it is a good idea to check first.
Yes I just received the same call, rang centre link and the could not see that anyone had recorded the or been into my file today. The lady I spoke to also said to ask for a log on I. D code and then ring centre link on 136150 to confirm the number.
I received an automated call from "Dept of Human Services calling on behalf of Centrelink. We need to speak with you urgently. Please press one now" when I did a man with an Asian sounding voice asked for my name, dob and address.
I asked him how I could verify who he was and where he was calling from. He said he was from Dept of Human Services. I asked for a return number so I could call him back. He gave me 1800194053. I checked this number with Centrelink. No such number.
I received a call from "No Caller ID" daying it was Centrelink and they needed to do a "review" of my details and payments. When I expressed doubt about handing over info to an incoming call he said no problem call us back on this number 1800 194 053.
A quick search on the centrelink website shows that this is NOT a Centrelink number. When I called Centrelink they said it is NOT them, their bumbers start with 13...
SCAM! Do not give out any details.
