Is 1300 937 849 / 00937849 a Spam or a Scam?
The number 1300 937 849 / 00937849 has been identified by numerous users as a suspicious telemarketing number offering life insurance and income protection services. Reports date back to 2015, and the calls typically feature a pre-recorded message from a person claiming to be "Mike Taylor" or "John Phillips." These messages are alarmingly identical, suggesting they are part of a scripted sales pitch rather than a personalised approach.
Common Themes in User Reports
Across the reviews collected, certain patterns emerge clearly. Many users reported receiving calls after business hours and were asked to provide their email addresses for quotes, which raises a red flag. The absence of a legitimate business name in any of the messages further complicates a user's ability to verify the authenticity of this outreach.
- Pre-recorded Messages: Most callers received a recorded voice message, enhancing the overall suspicion regarding the legitimacy of the enterprise.
- Mismatched Identities: The caller identity seems inconsistent, with names changing between messages, indicating a lack of professionalism often associated with telemarketing scams.
- No Company Identification: Not one of the messages received identified a legitimate business behind the call, which is unusual for a credible life insurance provider.
Classification: Spam or Potential Scam?
Based on these analyses, it is reasonable to classify 1300 937 849 / 00937849 as likely spam or potentially part of a phishing scam targeting individuals concerning life insurance services. The requests for personal details, alongside the vague identity of the supposed caller, suggest motives that could potentially exploit unsuspecting recipients.

Should you receive a call from 1300 937 849 / 00937849, consider the following precautions:

Michael Taylor, calling about life insurance and to give an email address over the phone by calling the 1300 937 849. No mention of any company name or people.
Received a voice message last night from a Mike Taylor offering reduced premiums on my insurance and asking for my email address so he can send me through a quote. The message was left after business hours which is suss. I just called the number and I got a voice message saying "you have called Mike Taylor. Please leave your email address and a phone number I can get you on". If this so called "Mike Taylor" did his research, he would note that our business has a website which lists our email address....
Hi there!
I got Mike Taylor on my home voicemail. Offering me cheaper premiums on Income protection but he wants my email to send me a quote. Apparently I asked for a quote last year, I don't think or can't remember if I did because I've been with the same company for the last 3 or 4 years.
There is a pre-recorded message left on my mobile, as a personalised message, left by a person with regard to life protection insurance - but in one message calls himself John Phillips and in next six months later (identical voice and message) calls himself Mike Taylor.
