Unsolicited text claiming to be from Fremantle College chasing an overdue account.
We received a one line letter today. "Please phone us on 1300 793 575 between 8:30am to 9:00pm Monday to Friday regarding an urgent matter.".
As far as we are aware we don't owe any money, added to the fact that our name wasn't completely correct, were pretty sure it is a scam. Our surname was right, but first name incorrect. Also seems to indicate that it is a scam, as if it was genuine, the name would be correct.
Yeah I smelt a SCAM when I opened the letter. If there is a legitimate debt then you would normally be in negotiation with the company to which you would owe the debt. If you ignore their requests for payment they will place it in the hands of a debt collector. Normally a debt collection agency will engage someone to serve a summons on you rather than send a letter. The genuine phone number for the Balcatta Baycorp office office is 1300 558 830.
I got a letter from them to call urgently. Being so naïve I gave my DOB when asked the reference number of the letter and my DOB. When told that I owed money that I didn't used the service., I asked if this was a scam. She said it was legit and their office is at Balcatta WA. What shall I do after giving my DOB and address?
I just received a letter from Baycorp collections asking to ring this number urgently, I have no debts so I know it is a scam I will be binning it.
Got the same letter "regarding an urgent matter", addressed to someone with a name similar to mine but missing my surname, like Henry JOHN instead of John Henry SMITH.
Received a letter form baycorp requesting I phone them between 8.30am - 9.30 pm regarding an urgent matter. One line letter.
