I want to clarify that this number was provided to me by my bank to help resolve an issue I had. It is associated with Westpac, along with St George and Bank of SA, working under a process known as Know Your Customer (KYC). While I understand why some might mistake it as a scam, it is actually legitimate. It's always safer to hang up and call back the official bank number, as numbers can be spoofed.
In the past week, I have received two SMS messages purporting to be from Bank SA, which raised my suspicion about their authenticity.

It appeared fraudulent to me, so I Googled the number printed on it for verification, which led me to this report page. I received a letter and SMS from someone impersonating Westpac, demanding that I provide my personal and confidential information by October 5, 2022. Same I got a letter 14 days back, I thought its really from Westpac, I check with one of my friend working in Westpac, he said, do not respond anything, after 7 days I got one more letter saying the same thing.
So I just through it in the DUSTBIN.

Yes I received a text last week supposedly from Westpac, but I do not have a Westpac account! I rang and they asked for full identity verification and I said no. They are smooth operators, said they would give me his full name and ID number, and I could call Westpac to check! Note - bank employees and government employees do not normally give their full name, only first name. BEWARE THIS SCAM.
Requested a call back to this number pressing option 4 wanting to collect verification information. Contacted the customer service department of Westpac and confirmed that this is a SCAM!
