I want to clarify that this number was provided to me by my bank to help resolve an issue I had. It is associated with Westpac, along with St George and Bank of SA, working under a process known as Know Your Customer (KYC). While I understand why some might mistake it as a scam, it is actually legitimate. It's always safer to hang up and call back the official bank number, as numbers can be spoofed.

In the past week, I have received two SMS messages purporting to be from Bank SA, which raised my suspicion about their authenticity.

I received a call from this number and immediately recognized it as a scam!

I received a physical letter that was sent in a Westpac envelope but had a St. George letterhead inside. It appeared fraudulent to me, so I Googled the number printed on it for verification, which led me to this report page. I wish I could share an image of the letter because these scammers are becoming very sophisticated and the letter almost looked legitimate.

I received a text message requesting me to confirm my password and security code. I recognize this as a scam!

I received a letter and SMS from someone impersonating Westpac, demanding that I provide my personal and confidential information by October 5, 2022. They included a contact number (1300 720 314) for further discussion, warning me that my account would be suspended. However, I want to clarify that I do not have any account with Westpac.

I received two SMS messages supposedly from Westpac. One requested a response within 14 days, and the other required a response within 7 days. I looked up the official contact information, and it didn’t match, which raised my suspicion. The messages were addressed to my name, but they were on a business account that had been closed years ago, suggesting that this number may have accessed outdated information about me.

I received a message claiming to be from The Westpac Group, stating that they sent a letter today with reference number 51516205. They urged me to provide certain information within 14 days and suggested visiting my local branch or calling their customer service at 1300 720 314 (option 2) or (02) 9155 7570 for international inquiries. I was warned not to reply to the SMS, which made me suspect it is a SCAM.

Yes I received a text last week supposedly from Westpac, but I do not have a Westpac account! I rang and they asked for full identity verification and I said no. They are smooth operators, said they would give me his full name and ID number, and I could call Westpac to check! Note - bank employees and government employees do not normally give their full name, only first name. BEWARE THIS SCAM.
