The numbers 1300 550 216 and 8225 0035 are scams; they are pretending to be the Citibank fraud department. Avoid calling them.
I received an SMS instructing me to call a number for Citibank regarding possible fraudulent activity on my credit card. I did not call the number provided (1300 550 216) but chose to contact Citibank directly using their official main number, and they confirmed that my card had been compromised, validating the SMS I received.
Legitimate Citibank Credit Card Security. Even if this number is listed in some kind of scam message, the phone number itself will legitimately connect you to Citibank's Credit Card Security department, skipping all the usual automated phone menu navigation.
It's not a scam, it's Citibank Card Security. If people are suspicious about calls from this number, then they should just call the usual Citi number on their card, and then get transferred to the Card Security people. I've just dealt with them direct on this number to deal with a fraudulent transaction they detected, and they were great. Definitely above board.
I had several missed calls and messages from this number (1300 550 216) asking me to call Citi Australia Services. At first I ignored them, assuming it was a scam but eventually decided to Google the number and this website appeared on the list as well as Citibank Australia. I do have a Citibank credit card.
So I decided to ring Citibank on 13 24 84 and they confirmed the call was legit and there was an attempt to log into my account in the UK. So I changed my online account name and password and they cancelled my card and sent another one. Normally I assume these calls are a scam but this was above board.
Definitely legit number. Just called Citi and confirmed.
I had a missed call from Citi Bank Security asking to call this number 1300 550 216 saying "that they had concerns regarding recent transactions on my account".
When I could not find the number on the Citi Bank website I called the number I found on their website for "Report a Lost or Stolen card" which is 13 24 84 and they verified that the call was legit and that my card number had been stolen.
So it is a legit number but I would always do as I did above and check it out first.
Hope this helps others :).
Got a voice mail left asking me to call this number claiming to be Citibank. Trying to work out if it actually is citibank....
Same. was called and asked for my card number at which time I told them I don't bank with citibank so don't have a card and then they asked me for any other bank account details I could give so they could look up what the call was about. Scam for sure.
Had a missed call from this number, It was from Citibank. I had used my card in a place that I don't usually use it. It got declined. I went to bank and got cash out instead. They were just making sure it was me that used it. So for me, I was thankful they checked.
Actually have to reverse previous comment. It's Citibank doing the right thing. But not their usual numbers.
Scam.
