I received a concerning message that read, "Your Security Code to authorize payment of AUD 590.00 to BET RIGHT is 183979. Please contact ING immediately at 1300 163 823 if you did not make this request." I had just sent money to my partner from my Commonwealth Bank app to his ING account. I received an SMS that appeared to be from ING bank, notifying me about a payment being put on hold. However, I do not have an account with ING, and when I researched the phone number, I didn't find any legitimate connection to ING bank.
The caller left a message stating that I needed to call back because my phone number was reported as inactive. This seems suspicious to me.
