    Robocall claiming to be from the ATO threatening a lawsuit and arrest warrant and demanding I call them back on a different number immediately. Accent was heavily American and the grammar was quite poor. Robocaller did not quote any of my personal information (not even my name), so it seems like just a random phishing scam call.

    I just had a call from this number saying it was the ATO and if I didn't call back I would be in serious trouble with a lawsuit being filed against me! I did call back however the number dropped out both times with no pick up nor message. I think it's a scam.

    I have also received this phone. They told me I needed to call them back or they would issue a arrest warrant. I spoke with a Indian sounding bloke. He wanted to know where I lived. I asked who are you? He didn't answer and hung up.

    Automated computer message saying it was a call from the ATO and demanded I call back the number as there was a lawsuit in my name. SCAM! Block this number!

    Also just got this message saying it was from the tax office. Sounds like a scam - had a slightly American/computer generated accent, too, which didn't sound right for an Aus gov agency. Have blocked the number.

    Also just received an automated voicemail from this number, couldn't hear the start of it but it stated I should call back or they will have to get an arrest warrant. Apparently from Adelaide. I've never been there. Seems like a scam. Number blocked.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
