    I have just had a call from that number claiming fraudulent use of my credit card to purchase a gift guard. When I called back for more information the girl hung up on me.

    I didn't answer the call as I didn't recognize the number. Message left about an accented woman something about gift cards being returned or refunded.

    Female accented voice said they were debuting my credit card $199. A phone number to stop this was advised.. But no way to note this number. Called the number back and was told they would be debating my eBay account.... This will be impossible as I don't have one.

    This no called with a voice message saying an eBay gift card had been purchased “using your credit card and provided a number to call back for details.

    No, it hadn’t, and no, I don’t intend to call back.

    Spam and I imagine, phishing.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
