    Received claim from Alliance for accident of their insured in writing. Gave no details except for date. Suspicions arise in the unprofessional letter, lack of detail (when, where, what). The letter was a request to fill in a blank for with our details.

    My car has no damage/ evidence of an accident. My car was with me in another State from the address used.

    Rang this number, did not answer after 1/2 hour wait. Rang Alliance directly on help line, did not answer the phone. Rang my insurer, who stated that the form was suspicious. Told me to email Alliance and ask what was happening/ was this genuine, then get back to my insurer with details. My insurer provided the Alliance email address to use. Alliance did not reply after one month.

    I can only assume this is spam. No major insurer would act this way.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
