An individual called my elderly mother and successfully persuaded her to install the AnyDesk application on her devices. They attempted to access her bank accounts but were unsuccessful. When she refused to cooperate further, they became verbally abusive. This is a classic example of a scam, and thankfully, she recognized the risks before being scammed.
My phone flagged this number as a fraudulent caller, and I have subsequently blocked it to prevent further contact.
The caller identifies themselves as "Diamond Plaza" in their on-hold message. This could be a misleading name, so proceed with caution.
I received a call offering a 50% discount on my plan. When I asked the caller to specify which part of my service was eligible for the discount, they were unable to provide clear information. They repeatedly stated they were calling from "The Telstra," but the whole conversation felt suspicious.
I answered the call and heard people speaking in a foreign language. They realized I was on the line and claimed to be from Telstra. However, I do not have any accounts with Telstra. After looking up the number, confirmed it's associated with a scam!
I received a missed call from this number at 5:41 PM on January 12, 2024, to our unlisted mobile number in the Newcastle area, NSW. Less than a minute later, I got another missed call from (07) 4222 0753. Given the information available on this site, I suspect both calls are scams.
The caller claimed that I had purchased an item on eBay and that my account was compromised. They urged me to download an app called eBay Desktop. I believe this is a scam, so please be cautious.
The caller did not leave a message. Based on various discussions I've read, I believe this is a SCAMMER.
I got a call from someone claiming to be Kane, identifying as a Telstra employee. He mentioned that I was eligible for a "Trauma discount" of 50% off my bill for six months. When I asked for his staff ID—since I used to work at Telstra—he gave me an ID that should have been issued over a decade ago, which they don’t reissue. I'm certain this is a fraudulent call.
Said they were National Broadband Network technical department and that I was having line dropouts. Able to give a postcode but no suburb. Wanted to know what lights were flashing on modem. When I said I was out and about they hung up. SCAM.
The caller claimed to be from Telstra billing and has repeatedly called me from different numbers, including (08) 6388 0917, (07) 4225 3216, and (08) 7320 8821. It's the same person each time.
The caller claimed to be from the NBN (National Broadband Network) and requested access to my laptop. This is a scam attempt!
This number is clearly a spam call, flagged as such on my phone. Fortunately, my device filters out these calls, but I encourage others to block and report this number.
The caller claimed to be from Telstra and was offering a 50% discount on my bill. However, once I informed them I wasn't a Telstra customer, they abruptly ended the call.
I received a scam call from someone offering me a supposed 6-month discount on my Telstra mobile service. They wanted me to verify my email address and other personal or financial details. When I refused to confirm my information, they hung up the phone after I labeled them as a scammer, especially since I do not own a Telstra mobile.
Claimed to be from Telstra billing department. Heavy accent with loud call centre in background. Scam for sure.
Scam.
Scam.
The caller claimed to be from the Telstra Billing department, but I hung up. Additionally, I found that this number appears to be using the Optus network, suggesting it is likely a spoofed number.
At 3:34 PM on Wednesday, December 13, I received a call that showed a SCAM alert on my mobile. I heard a few words before I immediately hung up; I’ve since blocked the number (08) 7320 8821.
This caller attempted to convince me that I needed to give them access due to supposed internet issues. I eventually decided to hang up due to their persistent pressure.
