    Calling from a "third party insurance" to offer you compensation. Definitely a scam - they couldn't keep the story straight. Just block and ignore.

    Wanted me to put in a claim for a car accident I had within the last 3 years. I kept asking for the details that they had been given, but they couldn't answer. Was put through to a manager. I hung up. When called back number wasn't in service. They said they were at 118 King William Road, Floor 6. Think it is a scam.

    Just received a call from a female on 08 7228 5392 who greeted me by my first name and stated she was ringing re my recent car accident. I subsequently shared a brief few words of advice to her while explaining I had not had a car accident before hanging up on her.

    Caller: Scammers claiming to be “Third Party Claims Company”

    Caller had an Indian accent and claimed to be from Third Party Claims Company. Said she was calling about the car accident I had. Funny how I haven’t had any accident! I hung up on her. Scammers!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
