    Left a message using a computer generated voice, demanding I return the call or they will have me arrested. No name or company. Fair enough to say I am blocking this number. Dodgy!

    Automated voice recording - saying they are calling from ATO. A law suit being opened under your name. If you do not call them, warrant will be issued for your arrest.

    This is obviously a fraud / scam... When answered it's a recorded american male voice saying the Taxation Office is filing a lawsuit against me (yeh right)... ATO does not work by using pre-recorded telephone messages... If it was true they would send me an official letter.

    Missed a call, they left a computer voiced voicemail message saying something about getting arrested & needing to call them back ASAP. Called them back. Claiming to be the Australian Taxation Office. I hung up immediately. Seemed dodgey.

    Scammer with automated voice message, pretending to be the ATO. Pretty much telling you that you've committed fraud by not reporting your tax properly. Threatened that you can be put in jail unless you make settlement outside the court.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
