I let the unrecognised number go to voicemail and so glad I did. It sounded like a recorded message, possibly Canadian accent telling me “if you don’t return the call we will contact the police to get an arrest warrant to have you arrested”. Needless to say I did not return the call.

I am sure if no one picks up all these unknown spam call in the first place and let it rings out, and simply blocked the number at the end. This will dismiss lots of spammers and piss them right off.

Scammer posing to be Australian Taxation Office.

They are very persistent in asking for your name so they can perform a search before they "help" you.

This number called and threatened to arrest me if I do not respond to the demands of calling back - an automated voice said it was from the ATO and I have outstanding TAX bills.

Voicemail message. It was a recorded message: I couldn't hear the name of the organisation but the message said that if I didn't call them back they would issue an arrest warrant and have me arrested. Idiots.
