NBN Impersonation and Tech Support Scam Reports for 08 7137 2735
One contributor reported receiving a call from 08 7137 2735 (also written as 0871372735) involving impersonation of the National Broadband Network. The caller claimed the contributor's NBN connection had been flagged for fraudulent activity and required immediate intervention. This represents a classic tech support scam tactic where callers create false urgency around network security to extract sensitive information and gain remote access to devices.
The call to 0871372735 originated from a noisy call centre environment with multiple voices audible in the background. The contributor noted the caller identified herself as "Rachael Wilson" with noticeably poor English, and used vague language when pressed for specific details about the alleged hacking incidents.
What the Caller from 08 7137 2735 Claimed
The caller from 08 7137 2735 opened by stating the contributor's internet was being hacked, a claim designed to trigger immediate concern. When asked for specifics about where and when the hacking occurred, the caller provided no concrete details, instead insisting there were "too many to list" and redirecting the contributor toward providing sensitive information.
The primary goal of the call to 0871372735 was to obtain the contributor's IP address under the guise of technical verification. The caller requested the contributor place their phone on speaker and provide this information. When the contributor logically questioned why they should provide an IP address if the account was already compromised, the caller attempted to justify the request by claiming NBN staff only receive IP addresses and linked phone numbers during their systems checks-a fabrication designed to normalise the intrusive request.
The caller's responses during the 08 7137 2735 call became increasingly evasive when challenged. When asked for their name, the caller initially provided "Rachael Wilson" but could not maintain consistency in their cover story, and the flimsy justifications for data requests fell apart under basic questioning.
Report Patterns and Call Characteristics
The call from 08 7137 2735 was answered by the contributor, who remained on the line long enough to identify red flags and challenge the caller's claims. The noisy call centre background-described as containing yelling and swearing in Indian accents-is consistent with known offshore scam operations running high-volume campaigns. This environmental detail from the report of 0871372735 indicates a coordinated operation rather than an isolated incident.
The contributor's experience with 08 7137 2735 demonstrates how tech support impersonation scams operate: create false urgency (hacking claim), demand sensitive data (IP address), and attempt to gain device access under the pretence of fixing a non-existent problem. The vague language and poor English from the 0871372735 caller are indicators commonly reported in similar NBN-themed scams.

What Our Users Reviewed
Noisy call centre background noise as soon as I answered. Could hear a lot of yelling and swearing in indian accents.
Female then said “hello, I am from National Broadband Network your internet is being hacked”
I asked her what her name was. She said “I am from National Broadband Network which stands for National Broadband Network”
I told her I was aware of what National Broadband Network stood for and said I was wanting HER name. She claimed to be Rachael Wilson (why do most indian scammers use “Wilson” as their scam surname?). “Rachael” had extremely poor English.
Anyway she said my National Broadband Network was flagged as being used for fraudulent activities. I asked her where and when. She said it was too many to list and I needed to put my phone on speaker and give her my ip address. I said I didn’t need to give this to her as she already said the account was being hacked. She then asked for my name. I said “my name should be the the one on the alleged hacked account”
She said “we don’t get names, we just get ip addresses and the phone number linked to it”
I said “I think you are full of it, get a real job”
Hung up and blocked.

Why would a scammer impersonate NBN when calling 08 7137 2735?
The 08 7137 2735 caller used NBN impersonation because most Australians have internet and understand broadband services. An IP address alone is not an immediate security threat, but contact your internet service provider immediately to report the call from 08 7137 2735 (0871372735) and ask them to check for any unauthorised access to your account.
