    Got a call from this number about half an hour ago. Didn't give his name, just said that they can pay our bills in advance. When I said I am not interested, he said can you suggest someone else. I said no one, and he kept insisting. Asked him to put me on the DNC and he hung up. I tried calling the number back and it says the number you have dialled is not in service. Please check the number.

    Definite scammers. Be careful and do not give any information, not even your name.

    I got a call from this number and the man refused to tell me who he was or where he was calling from. He started speaking in English and then resorted to a foreign language. I said I was not interested and hung up. He then phoned me a further 7 times in a row and each time refused to tell me his name or where he was calling from.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
