    Claiming that I’ve been in a car accident and to press 1 to provide details, I pressed 1 and the call went to a voicemail. I haven’t driven my car so I’m calling BS.

    Asian Male claiming to be from a Insurance company situated at 9 King William Street Adelaide. Asking about a accident and it wasn't your fault is that Right? A lot of static in the background on the line.

    Didn't answer with a yes knew it was a scam, asked him when where and what date was this answer he couldn't answer. Obviously after your personal banking details to pay a claim into that's where it was heading. Checked the number and funny enough its the Bank of China in Adelaide South Australia.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
