Impersonation Scam Reports for 08 7095 1846

Six contributors have flagged 08 7095 1846 (also written as 0870951846) for suspicious activity, with three reports describing clear impersonation tactics. The most common approach involves callers falsely claiming to represent major Australian financial institutions and telecommunications providers, then requesting personal information from contributors.

The reports suggest this number is being used from an overseas call centre, likely India based on one contributor's observation. Multiple callers have attempted to convince recipients that their accounts or devices have been compromised, a classic pretext for extracting sensitive data. One contributor noted the caller became abusive when challenged.

What Callers from 08 7095 1846 Claim

Contributors who answered calls from 0870951846 report several distinct impersonation scenarios. One caller claimed to be from Telstra internet support, alleging the recipient's internet connection had been compromised and that 'everyone can see what you are doing online.' The caller escalated pressure by suggesting authorities would be involved.

Another call from 08 7095 1846 came from someone claiming to represent NAB's fraud unit, asking questions without first verifying the recipient was actually a NAB customer. A third report describes a caller impersonating Visa fraud protection, referencing a supposed unauthorised Amazon purchase to create urgency and prompt information sharing.

The common thread across these reports of 08 7095 1846 is the attempt to establish false authority (financial institution or telecommunications provider) combined with a threat or concern (compromised account, fraudulent purchase) to lower the recipient's guard before requesting personal details.

Report Patterns and Timing

Four of the six reports for 0870951846 involved answered calls, with contributors recognising the scam attempts and either hanging up or refusing to engage. Two reports were missed calls with no voicemail left, consistent with pattern-dialling behaviour typical of large-scale impersonation campaigns.

The timing spans early November through late November 2025. One contributor reported a silent call with delayed greeting from 08 7095 1846, a tactic often used to test whether a line is active before transferring to a scammer. The variety of impersonation angles within a short timeframe suggests this number may be part of a coordinated campaign rotating through different false identities.

This was from an Indian Call Center telling me my Telstra internet has been compromised. I played along with the game and she said oh and everyone can see what you are doing online. I said oh no, AFP, will see I am trying to make bombs of mass destruction and will raid me shortly. She said well stick that bomb up your ass and F off.

Damn I didn't get to swear at her in Hindi Maadher Chod.

Contact your bank and relevant financial institutions immediately to report potential fraud. If you shared banking details, passwords, or personal identification information with the caller from 0870951846, request they monitor your accounts for suspicious activity and consider placing a fraud alert. Contact ACMA at acma.gov.au and Scamwatch at scamwatch.gov.au with details of what information was shared.

Why does 08 7095 1846 claim to be from Telstra, NAB, and Visa?

Scammers using 0870951846 impersonate major, recognisable institutions because people are more likely to trust and comply with requests from familiar companies. By using different impersonations, they maximise the chance of reaching someone who banks with that institution or uses that service. This scattered approach allows them to target many people without needing specific information beforehand.

Is 08 7095 1846 a real Telstra, NAB, or Visa number?

No. 08 7095 1846 (0870951846) is a legitimate South Australian local service number format, but the callers using it are impersonating these organisations. Telstra, NAB, and Visa have official support phone numbers listed on their websites and official statements. Never rely on a number from an unsolicited call - always hang up and call the official number you find independently.

How do I know if a call from 08 7095 1846 is really from my bank?

Legitimate banks will not ask you to confirm sensitive information during an unsolicited call, and they will never ask for passwords or full card details. If 08 7095 1846 or any number calls claiming to be your bank, hang up and call the customer service number on your official bank statement. Your real bank will be able to confirm whether they attempted to contact you.

What does 'impersonation' mean on this report for 0870951846?

Impersonation means the caller falsely claims to represent an organisation they do not work for. Multiple reports for 08 7095 1846 describe callers claiming to be from Telstra, NAB, or Visa when they are actually scammers trying to extract personal information. This is a key indicator of fraud because it's designed to manipulate you into lowering your guard.

Should I call 08 7095 1846 back if they left a voicemail?

No. Do not return calls to 08 7095 1846 or any unknown number that leaves a generic or vague message. Scammers sometimes leave incomplete messages to prompt you to call back, putting you in contact with them. If you're concerned about a legitimate issue with your accounts, initiate contact yourself using official contact details from your bank's website or official statement, not from any unsolicited call.
