Robocall and Tech Support Scam Reports for 08 7083 9100

Four contributors have reported calls from 08 7083 9100 (also written as 0870839100), describing a pattern of persistent robocalls combined with tech support impersonation attempts. The most recent report involved a caller claiming to represent Microsoft, requesting the recipient click a link to resync Outlook. Multiple contributors note that 0870839100 appears as part of a broader calling campaign using varying area codes and landline numbers, with calls arriving in predictable patterns.

What distinguishes these reports is the caller behaviour tied to voicemail and message transcription features. One contributor documented that scammers treat any voicemail or message transcript as proof the phone number is "live" and active, triggering repeated follow-up calls. After disabling the phone's automatic message transcription, the frequency of calls from 08 7083 9100 dropped significantly, suggesting the callers systematically track which numbers are actively monitored.

What Callers from 08 7083 9100 Say

The Microsoft impersonation attempt reported for 0870839100 specifically asked the recipient to click a link to resync Outlook, a common phishing tactic designed to capture login credentials or install malware. Contributors describe receiving calls from 08 7083 9100 and similar numbers without any verbal introduction or message left on voicemail, suggesting automated dialling systems.

One contributor noted the predictable timing: calls arrive exactly twice on weekday afternoons, approximately two hours apart. This precision indicates a scheduled robocall system rather than random dialling. The same contributor observed that when calls ring out completely with no voicemail or message response captured, the frequency drops noticeably, implying the callers track engagement metrics to prioritise "live" numbers for repeated contact.

Call Patterns and Timing

Community reports for 08 7083 9100 show a consistent pattern of multiple daily calls. One contributor flagged receiving calls daily from varying area codes, with the phone's spam filter catching them regularly. Another contributor documented calls from 0870839100 arriving twice per weekday afternoon, spaced roughly two hours apart.

The most aggressive period occurred before one contributor disabled automatic message transcription. With that feature active, calls from 08 7083 9100 arrived twice daily consistently. After removing the transcript function, the frequency reduced substantially, indicating the callers use voicemail data as a callback signal. A contributor experiencing ongoing contact noted it "took ages to get them to reduce how often they call," suggesting these numbers operate on a rotation system where some recipients are cycled through more frequently than others.

What to Do If You Receive a Call from 08 7083 9100

Based on contributor experience with 08 7083 9100 and similar robocall numbers, the following approach has proven effective:

  • Do not: Answer the call, click any links sent via text or voicemail, or allow voicemail to record a message
  • Do: Let it ring out completely without any response or interaction; this signals the number as inactive to automated systems
  • Do: Disable automatic voicemail transcription and message recording features on your phone to prevent scammers using message data as engagement confirmation
  • Do: Block the number 08 7083 9100 and similar numbers after the first call
  • Do: Be especially cautious if a call claims to be from Microsoft, Apple, your bank, or other major organisations requesting password resets or link clicks

Same number called yesterday and I left a review. It called again early this morning. I recently got a new phone, I had all voicemail and call diversion turned off but the new phone does its own message taking whether you ask it to or not. When the scammers hear any voicemail or message they consider that proof that the phone is "live" and that just means they keep calling.

Once I saw this unwanted "transcript" and realised the phone was doing it I turned it off. Before then they always called twice a day about 2 hours apart. Since turning off that stupid message function they have not called again... This time no voicemail, the call rings out with no response that they see and this is considered "not live" and they don't automatically call a 2nd time.

I hope this stupid feature hasn't put me back on frequent rotation with the scammers again, it took ages to get them to reduce how often they call. The moment you look at your phone you know if someone called so I don't need some idiot app double informing me, especially when I had turned all that stuff off with the carrier.

The only known way to beat the scam calls is never answer, never even cancel the call or let it go to voicemail, it has to ring out with no reaction every time the Indians call.

Yet another random landline number call from the same old scammers who call every day. Exactly twice every weekday afternoon from similar numbers. Gee how do you suppose anyone ever penetrates the fiendish cunning, that diabolical criminal genius would obviously fool anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do calls from 08 7083 9100 keep arriving twice a day?

One contributor documented that 08 7083 9100 calls arrive exactly twice on weekday afternoons, roughly two hours apart, suggesting an automated robocall system on a fixed schedule. The same contributor found that the frequency increased when their phone recorded voicemail or message transcripts, as scammers appeared to treat those transcripts as signals that the number 0870839100 was actively monitored. Disabling automatic message recording reduced calls significantly, indicating these systems track engagement data.

What should I do if 08 7083 9100 claims to be from Microsoft?

Do not click any links provided by callers from 08 7083 9100 claiming to represent Microsoft or requesting Outlook resync. This is a known phishing tactic. Hang up immediately and verify any legitimate Microsoft communications by calling Microsoft's official support line directly (not a number provided by the caller). Report the phishing attempt to ReportCyber at cyber.gov.au, and report the number 0870839100 to ACMA.

How do I stop getting robocalls from 08 7083 9100?

Based on contributor experience, the most effective method is to never answer, cancel, or allow voicemail to record when 08 7083 9100 calls. Let it ring out completely with no response, as scammers use voicemail and message transcripts as confirmation that your number is actively monitored. Once confirmed as "live," they add you to frequent calling rotation. Disabling automatic voicemail transcription on your phone can also reduce callback frequency from 0870839100 significantly.

Why does my phone automatically transcribe calls from 08 7083 9100?

Modern phones often include automatic voicemail transcription or message features enabled by default, even if you've disabled call diversion through your carrier. One contributor reported their new phone recorded messages from 08 7083 9100 despite having all carrier-level diversions turned off. Scammers use these transcripts as engagement signals to prioritise continued calling. You can disable this feature in your phone's voicemail or assistant settings to prevent providing this confirmation to callers from 0870839100.

Is 08 7083 9100 calling from a real South Australian business?

The number 08 7083 9100 is allocated as a local-service number in South Australia through Symbio Networks Pty Ltd, but this allocation does not guarantee the caller's legitimacy. Scammers often spoof or mask their actual origin to appear as local numbers. Contributors report that 0870839100 is part of a coordinated campaign using multiple area codes and landline numbers with robocall tactics, indicating the number is likely being misused by scammers rather than the actual service provider.

Should I report 08 7083 9100 to ACMA?

Report the number 0870839100 and details of your calls to ACMA at acma.gov.au. Also register your number on the Do Not Call Register at donotcall.gov.au. If the call involved phishing or Microsoft impersonation, report to ReportCyber at cyber.gov.au as well. These reports help authorities identify and shut down active scam campaigns.
