    When I get these calls I block the number but it's only a week or two before I start getting the calls from a different number. Today I got one from 08 7070 0005.08 is the area code for WA, SA and NT but it's definitely not a WA number because all numbers start with a 9 or a 6 - none start with a 7 in that State. I'm just going to keep blocking them until there's some kind of regulation to stop them.

    Not allways a telemarketer, trust me I used to work for one. You can register it as a cold canvas, marketing call, Like debit collectors Lion Fianace Australia or Arl debit collectors can gather any information about you. If you live in Australia, win gift cards on line, etc Bunnings fundraisers ects. At the bottom of the ticket, Should be a box small, tick yes if you want only this company to use the information, tick no to on sale to other telemarketers, online surveys.

    Had this number call me and just hang up as I don't recognise the number I don't call back - just wish I knew how to block these nuisance calls completely.

    The above number is telemarketing. They call, do not leave a message, and when you call back, you get a computer answering machine requesting that you stay on the phone for the next available agent. Annoying.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
