    After a few seconds of silence I got put through to a human woman (not automated), who said “hello” and then claimed to be from “the insurance company”. I hung up before they got any further.

    Some Indian scammer whos barely understandable and half asleep mumbled "blah blah insurance, your accident"..

    I said, "mate, learn how to speak clearly and like your awake if you're trying to scam someone"

    Fkn sick of these thieving scumbags ripping off our grandparents.

    Au government should sue the Indian government for the billions of dollars theft from Australian citizens? They clearly aren't doing anything about deterring them because the Indian government and police so corrupt and are taking a good percentage.

    Caller ID stated it was located in Perth but I really doubt that.

    Didn't answer and no voice mail. Most likely scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
