Receiving calls from unknown numbers can be unnerving, and when these calls turn out to be scams, it can be particularly distressing. Recent user reports indicate that the number 08 6383 6712 is associated with fraudulent activity, particularly impersonating legitimate companies such as Telstra and Amazon.

Many Australians have experienced calls from this number characterised by silence on the other end or automated messages falsely claiming issues with their bank accounts or online orders. The reports clearly outline a pattern of behaviour consistent with a typical phishing scam, designed to elicit personal information or payment under false pretences.

  • Common Reports: Users have detailed calls claiming financial distress, such as pending payments for services not requested or calls claiming to address issues with banking security.
  • Technical Tactics: The callers often employ the use of an Indian accent, and the calls frequently feature poor background noise, indicating they may originate from a call centre focused on deception.
  • Patterns of Communication: Unfortunately, the tactics can become aggressive, as many users have reported feeling harassed due to lack of response when they answer the call or being met with hostility when they challenge the callers.

As the reports mount, it's clear that 08 6383 6712 belongs to a group of scammers intent on misleading and targeting individuals across Australia under the guise of familiar corporations.

So, what's the best way to handle such calls?

  • Do Not Engage: If you receive a call from this number, it's wise to avoid interaction. Hang up immediately if you're uncertain about the caller's identity.
  • Block the Number: Many users who have reported to Reverseau have successfully blocked the number after receiving multiple calls.
  • Report the Call: If you feel uneasy, report the number through appropriate channels to protect yourself and others.

In conclusion, the number 08 6383 6712 has been identified as downright fraudulent. By staying vigilant and informed, Australians can better protect themselves against these deceptive scams. Don't fall prey to those who use manipulation and fear to extract sensitive information. Keep an eye out for future reports and help spread awareness about phone number scams in Australia.

Played a recorded message saying that the call is from Amazon and to press 1 to pay for my iPhone 11 that I just ordered (I did not order this phone or anything from Amazon). A woman answered with an Indian accent and said she was from "the Amazon" and asked if I had recently ordered an iPhone 11 and that she could help me by taking a payment for it. I said I didn't order one, I just wanted to know what script she used so that I could warn my parents. She asked if I wanted to work with her, I said no.2 minutes of wague chatter from us both and she sighs and hangs up on me.
