Understanding the Scam Behind 08 6361 3651
The phone number 08 6361 3651 has raised significant concerns among Australian users, categorised predominantly as a scammer number. Reports indicate that it operates under the guise of a legitimate telecommunications provider, primarily claiming to represent Telstra while often leading victims into traps for personal information or financial data.
Nature of the Scam
Victims report receiving robocalls that begin with alarming pre-recorded messages attempting to create a sense of urgency. Many users have noted that the messages assert that their phone service—claimed to be with Telstra—will soon be disconnected. The inconsistency arises as numerous victims have confirmed they are either with different providers, such as Vodafone or Optus, or have never used Telstra services at all. The calls frequently start in Chinese before transitioning to English, preying on non-native speakers.
How to Deal with This Scam
1. Do Not Engage: If you receive a call from this number, it's crucial that you do not respond to the prompts or provide any personal information. Scammers often seek to collect sensitive details through misinformation.
2. Hang Up: The safest action is to end the call promptly. Legitimate companies do not operate this way, and any perceived urgency is a red flag.
3. Report the Number: Notify your telecommunications provider about the scam. Additionally, consider reporting the number on platforms like Reverseau or using Reverse Phone Lookup Australia to alert others about the scam.
Conclusion
In conclusion, 08 6361 3651 is a number confirmed as a source of scam messages related to telecommunications. Staying informed and vigilant is key to safeguarding yourself against such fraudulent schemes. Definitely scammer. Left message claiming to be Telstra- started in Asian language then in English.
I received a recorded message from Telstra that seemed to be nonsensical or irrelevant. This caller is just another irritating spammer.
On October 17, 2023, at 3:15 PM, I received a voicemail that began with a phrase in Chinese, followed by an English message stating, "Hello, Vodafone Telecom urgent notice. Your mobile phone service will be disconnected soon. Press '1' for English, press '2' for Chinese." After that, there was another phrase in Chinese before the message ended. I don’t use Vodafone for my mobile service, which raises my suspicions about this call.
