A recorded message from a scammer claiming to represent Telstra called me. The message prompted me to press 1 for English and 2 for Chinese. This appears to be a fraudulent attempt to obtain personal information.
This is a known scam operation that impersonates major companies such as your bank, Telstra, Microsoft, and Amazon. The silent calls may be an attempt to gather information from your voicemail greeting, or it could be due to their auto-dialer calling too quickly. They frequently use different phone numbers and often call several times in a row from various numbers.
I received a recorded message stating that over a thousand dollars had been taken from my Visa or Mastercard. They prompted me to press 1 for assistance, but this clearly sounds like a scam.
I didn't answer this call, but I suspect it was yet another scammer trying to reach me.

Recorded American female message advising moneys will be deducted from mastercard today by Amazon unless action is taken by pressing 1. Male in callcentre hung up on me after I replied hi and waited. Number is constantly engaged on callback. Web search results similar to this report.
I believe this is likely a scam call. The number appeared as if it was from Perth, WA, but I don't know anyone in that area. They called multiple times within an hour.

So, number reported and blocked. However if not legitimate, number reported and blocked. NEVER answer unrecognized numbers calling.
