It seems like this scammer is back in action! The call rang through, but I didn't answer it because I found it suspicious.
The caller claimed to be from Amazon security and asked me about access to my account, specifically if I knew anyone from California. They also requested a verification code that I had just received from Amazon, but the message warned me not to share that code with anyone. Trusting my instincts that something wasn’t right, I hung up the phone.
I live in Victoria, but this number is based in Perth. When I answered the call, there was no one on the line, and the call got disconnected immediately.
I suspect this number to be a scam as it was unknown to me and the caller did not leave a message after the call.
The caller claimed to be from Amazon, attempting to confirm an order that I allegedly placed the night before using my iPhone. However, I had not ordered anything through Amazon recently and have never received a phone call from them regarding order confirmations, so I hung up immediately. This is clearly a poor attempt at a scam.
