This article aims to shed light on the nature of these calls and provides guidance on how to handle them if they reach you.
Analyzing the Reports
Multiple users have reported receiving calls from this number, with many detailing similar experiences. The common thread among these reports is a supposed representative from an “Accidents Department” claiming the recipient had been involved in an accident. Here’s a breakdown of the types of calls highlighted:
- Claim of Accident Claim: Callers with thick accents, either male or female, ask the recipient if they have had an accident to initiate a claim. This is a typical setup for trying to extract personal information under false pretenses.
- Missed Calls: Some recipients noted missed calls with no voice message left, indicating the call was likely from a number that would not engage—facts often pointing to scam operations that rely on fear and uncertainty.
- Number Doesn't Exist: When some users attempted to call back, they discovered that the number reportedly did not exist, which aligns with tactics commonly employed by scammers who wish to evade recognition.
Classifying the Scam
This phone number fits squarely into the scam category, specifically targeting individuals with fallacious accident claims. Such scams often exploit the vulnerability of individuals, particularly those who may have recently been in accidents or are in precarious situations, thereby causing undue stress and confusion.

A person claiming to be from the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA) contacted me, inquiring if I had recently been involved in a crash.
