    Keeps calling. On picking up, I hear only background noises. No one on the other side.

    I have also received calls from 08 60000000 on my mobile number that I do not answer. These calls are then followed by another call listed on my landline phone as " Overseas ".

    When I pickup the phone I hear a voice ask for me by name. I do not answer but hang up after a few seconds.

    Both my numbers are listed on the government " do not call " register.

    Receiving phone calls time 4 from this number every evening. Tried to phone back, states its not connected. So blocked the call, now getting message that last about 5 minutes sounding like someone is spending a lot of time blowing through a straw into a glass of fluid. Seriously, people are mental midgets and need to get a life.

    Cheers Anne.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
