What Our Users Reviewed
A female caller with a thick accent, although she spoke English well, read from a script and indicated she wanted to talk to the owner of the business. When I inquired about the purpose of her call, she stated it was related to our business's online visibility and that we did not appear on the first page of Google searches. She seemed eager to only speak with the business owner.
This is likely a scam call. Since they didn't leave a message and the number isn't listed in any phone directory, I suggest ignoring any future calls from this number.
I received multiple calls from this number in the afternoon, but they never left a voicemail. I checked for reports on this number before returning the call, and thanks to the feedback from others, I have chosen to block this number.
I received yet another call today from this number. It appears to be the same scam trying to sell solar energy solutions, which I am not interested in.
A man called me on my landline discussing solar panels and government rebates. I told him I wasn't interested, but he kept talking and asked about my electricity bill. I reiterated my lack of interest, and he became aggressive. I eventually hung up, but he continued calling back repeatedly, which I chose to ignore.
I have been receiving 5 to 6 calls each week from this number on my landline. Since the calls are frequent, I have now turned the volume off on my phone and no longer answer the calls. Notably, this caller never leaves a message, and based on the complaints from others regarding this number, it appears to be associated with scam activity.
An Indian caller attempted to persuade me to join a program discussing free solar panels and government rebates. There was a noticeable delay in the call connection, and this seems to be a scam – as the saying goes, "There's no such thing as a free lunch."
The caller refused to provide their name and asked for someone named "Ms. Johnson." When I informed them that I had answered a business line, they seemed confused and abruptly hung up.
This number has started calling my mobile again without leaving any messages, and this has been happening for a week now since April 2022. I advise everyone to be cautious.
They called me claiming that there is a $4,000 rebate from the government for solar panel installation or upgrade. This is the second time I have received a call like this from them.
If you get what you suspect is a 'human' scam call, (not a recording), here are some ploys to try.
1. Pick up the phone and say "nay" which means "yes" in Greek. You can follow up with 2. If desired.
2. Pick up the phone and say "arpka narm kya hi" which means "what is your name?" in Hindi. Usually the caller will disconnect. If the caller happens to answer in Hindi, then say "habla usted espaniol" which means "do you speak Spanish?". Almost certainly they will disconnect.
3. If a first question is asked, such as "how are you" or indeed any question, say "the charge for an answer to the question is $100, and rises by $50 for each succeeding question. Please state your credit card details so payment can be transacted before the first answer".
Experience1 Phone rang - observed the number was 0742411323. Female caller gave her name and who she represented. I asked where she was ringing from. Reply was: Melbourne. I asked how she could be ringing from Melbourne when the phone number was from Qld (begins with 07). She said she didn't know and that she would have to refer to her superior to buzz me back. I said Good luck, Goodbye and hung up the phone.
Always ask FIRST, the question: Where are you speaking from?
This caller has repeatedly contacted me from different numbers, asking for someone named Dobbs. No matter how many times I inform them that I am not Dobbs, they continue to follow the same script without deviation. I strongly believe this to be a scam.
They called me on a silent number and began their sales pitch at 8:15 PM (NSW time). When I confronted him about calling a number on the do-not-call list and my disinterest in their solar offer, he became aggressive and demanded to know if I was finished so he could continue talking. I requested to have my number removed, then hung up and immediately blocked the number. Since then, I have received five additional calls from blocked numbers.
This number called my work phone, but the caller did not speak, and after a few seconds of silence, they hung up.
The caller attempted to gather personal information by claiming that I was eligible for a second solar rebate. I advise not to provide any personal details to them.
