    Similar experience as above. Phone message from "Daniel" claiming a tax office warrant has been issued to Australian Federal Police and offering to be my "lawyer" in the court case. A scum bag indeed.

    Good old Jim Harris from downtown Mumbai (Gold Coast) just phoned to say something about a tax fraud. Have no intention of phoning the mongrel scum-bag back.

    This number 07 7641 2152 left a bogus message on my voice mail. "The tax office, legal case pending against me etc." Clearly not someone from the ATO, rather a pathetic scamming piece of crap. A call from a Gold Coast town - "Beudesert".

    Keeps calling about a tax fraud concerning the tax office. He says his name is Jim Harris and to call him back on this number. A friend called him back and blocked his number and the person that answered said he would get him. Friend left a not so nice message and hung up.

    I have previously received calls from this number 0261003019 claiming to be from the ATO, I have received another call on my mobile today from 0754612152 from the same people. They are obviously just changing numbers regularly but please be warned it is the same scam. I have notified ATO and they are saying it is an ongoing investigation.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
