Yep say there from ato and wanted my credit card details to put in 900 dollars in my account so I stuffed him around for a hour gave him wrong numbers wrong exp date told him I couldn’t understand him then told him I was a copper and we were tracking him and he hung up lol.
I received a call from this number and I was told that the ATO has done a check of my tax returns for the last 5 years and that they want to pay a $937 refund that they had previously missed. His name was Rafik his accent was really heavy and I couldn't understand half of what he was saying but he was very insistent. I explained that my accountant is who he should be talking to.
He said they needed to deal with me direct and talked about three ways they could pass the money to me. I stopped him mid sentence and said that I believe this to be a scam, the phone then went dead. I'm sorry I didn't keep him talking for longer, it could have been a lot of fun to waste his precious time.
