    When I get theses calls I tell them if they call again I will ring the police and give them their number and make a nuisance complaint.

    If you hear a delay of 5 or so seconds when you first pick up then they are using Skype.

    This number has been calling me about twice a day for the last 4 days. I don't answer to phone calls that I do not know. Especially when I looked it up and found a whole page about this. How annoying.

    Got call from this number. They hung up when I answered (I answered in Chinese though). I dialed back with a blocked ID and a recorded message said "Hello you have reached the Australian Contact Centre Inquiry line. The estimated wait time is *pause* under 60 seconds. Please hold and a operator will be with you shortly. *cut to music* ".

    I was too lazy to wait and hung up after about 30 seconds.

    Telemarketer, well-spoken young male, Aussie accent. Called my mobile phone. Said he was calling from the Australian Contact & Enquiry Center re: TV ads for income protection, etc. I told him thanks, but no thanks, & then I hung up. Even our mobile phones are unsafe to answer now? Sheesh!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
