I always check here before I answer an unknown number. I feel if its really for me the person will leave a message. Got a few calls from this number too and after referring here and not receiving any message's I blocked it off...
WASTE OF TIME.
Spoke with some guy with a strong foreign accent. He didn't know my name but referred to me as 'Mate'.
Said he was from Energy Compare (registered in Parramatta??).
Wanted to conduct a survey to see if I was eligible for energy discounts.
I asked how he got my number, he wouldn't respond at first. I said, well you picked up the phone, and pushed numbers in, how did you come up with the number. Apparently his answer as it's just Random!
They have no idea of who you are or where you live, it would appear they are dialling random phone numbers.
They called me numerous times and on the third time engaged me in saying they could offer me discounts on electricity and gas bills (as long as it was in my name). Luckily, I gave them very vague details and they tried to get more personal info (email etc). They said another rep would call me back but haven't heard from them since.
I have received a call from these scammers. South east Asian accent - reading from a script- they won't let a word in... From the Gold coast "Energy compare" looked for their web site there is nt one.?.- they are not allowed to give that information? A rep will call in 24 hours about discount?? Yeh right !!... They semed to call you 2 days before with unknown number an hang up when you answer. This same voice has has had my number for years!!
I got 3 -5 calls over last weeks and I once got a lady saying she was trying to save me money on energy costs, I put her off saying I was busy I had 4-5 more unanswered calls that week when I tried to call back I never couldn, t. Asked if I was connected to electricity or gas at my house... And congratulated me as I am eligable for additional discounts.
Proceeded to try and ask for further information like name on account, post code etc.
