RACQ Impersonation Reports for 07 3877 1700

Community reports for 07 3877 1700 (also written as 0738771700) reveal a mixed pattern, with some contributors confirming legitimate RACQ insurance claim calls, while others describe impersonation scams exploiting RACQ's name. Two separate reports mention callers claiming to represent RACQ and discussing insurance claims or accidents, but with suspicious behaviour that suggests fraudulent intent.

The most detailed report about 0738771700 describes a two-part scam: the initial call from 07 3877 1700 claimed to be a RACQ claims officer discussing a car accident claim, stating that trades appointed by the insurance company had gone into administration. Within two hours, a follow-up call from 07 5618 5302 arrived requesting payment to arrange repairs to a bedroom, which the contributor identified as the coordinated scam component.

What Callers from 07 3877 1700 Claim

Contributors who encountered the scam version of calls from 07 3877 1700 report callers identifying themselves as RACQ claims officers or representatives. These callers reference existing insurance claims or car accidents, creating legitimacy through familiarity with the insurance process. The critical red flag in the detailed 0738771700 report is the claim that appointed trades have gone into administration and that new trades will be assigned to contact the recipient.

One contributor noted confusion during a call from this number, reporting that the person on the other end was "completely different" than expected, suggesting call transfers or multiple operators involved in the scheme. Another contributor received a call claiming to be about a car accident supposedly involving the recipient, despite no accident occurring.

Report Patterns and Timing

Among the five reports for 07 3877 1700, two contributors confirmed the number as legitimate RACQ calls, while two described suspicious or scam activity, and one reported a confusing transferred call. The impersonation tactic appears concentrated in reports from June 2025 and October 2024, suggesting this number may have been compromised or spoofed for fraudulent purposes during specific periods.

The timing pattern in the detailed scam report is significant: the initial call from 07 3877 1700 was followed by a follow-up call within two hours from a different number (07 5618 5302), indicating a coordinated operation designed to pressure the target into payment before they could verify the claim with RACQ directly.

Received a call from this number about my claim from RACQ, and told me that the trades appointed by my insurance company gone into administration. They then said they will let the new trades contact me to get it fixed.

2 hours later number 07 5618 5302 called and said they have been told to come fix my bedroom so please arrange payment.

Both of these are scams. Do not pick up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 07 3877 1700 a real RACQ number?

Community reports for 0738771700 are mixed. Two contributors confirmed calls from 07 3877 1700 as legitimate RACQ claim calls, but two others report impersonation scams using the RACQ name. To verify any claim status, do not rely on the incoming call - instead, hang up and contact RACQ directly using the number on your insurance policy or the official RACQ website.

What is the 07 3877 1700 scam involving trades?

One detailed report about 0738771700 describes a two-stage scam: the caller from 07 3877 1700 claims to be a RACQ claims officer and says that trades appointed by your insurance have gone into administration. They then claim new trades will contact you. Within hours, a second caller from a different number (07 5618 5302) requests payment to arrange repairs. This is a coordinated scam designed to pressure you into paying before you verify the claim.

Should I provide personal details if 07 3877 1700 calls about my insurance claim?

No. Even if 07 3877 1700 claims to be from RACQ and mentions a specific claim, do not share personal details, policy numbers, or banking information during the call. Always hang up and verify directly with RACQ using contact information from your policy documents. Legitimate insurers never pressure you for payment information during unsolicited calls.

Why did 07 3877 1700 claim my accident trades went into administration?

This is a common impersonation scam tactic. By claiming that appointed trades have failed, the scammer creates urgency and a reason for you to accept alternative 'replacement' traders who will contact you separately. The follow-up call requesting payment is the actual scam. Legitimate RACQ communications will not use this approach - they work with established networks of repair partners.

What should I do if I already gave payment details to 07 3877 1700 or 07 5618 5302?

Contact your bank immediately and inform them of the potential scam involving 0738771700 and 07 5618 5302. Then report the incident to ACMA at acma.gov.au and Scamwatch at scamwatch.gov.au with the exact amounts and payment methods used.

How can I confirm a RACQ claim is real if they call me?

Always hang up on unsolicited calls from 07 3877 1700 or any number claiming to be RACQ. Contact RACQ directly using the phone number printed on your insurance policy, your RACQ member card, or visit racq.com.au. Provide them with your policy number and ask about any claims or pending notifications. Real RACQ representatives will never rush you or demand immediate payment over the phone.
