    Called my mobile looking for my neighbour. Had his name and a street name right. I hung up but then got a text to pass onto neighbour with a reference number. I didn’t pass it on.

    Same. Young push girl wanting to know who I was and personal details. Quite rude.

    The caller would not give his name, details or reason for calling stating he was not at liberty to say. He rang my number asking for the contact of my husband's colleague thinking I would be dumb enough to give them anything they asked for.

    This is definitely a business called "State Mercantile" in QLD.

    They are a debt collection Agency. They will call whenever they like.

    You can call the NSW ombudsman if you have a complaint about this company.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
