    Scam. Said he was from Telstra Internet. Sounded like he had an Indian accent. I asked him to remove me from his sales and marketing database. He said he couldn’t do that because the call was through VOIP. He hung up. I tried to call back and the number didn’t work. How are these scammers allowed to keep harassing people in this digital age?

    Don't answer, it's an indian scam hub calling to tell you BS that they are from "visa security centre" which there's no such thing! And I don't even have a visa card.

    Definitely scammers, wanted my credit card details. I gave him fake details and even said would you like my PIN number. He was surprised and said yes. I said give me your address and I’ll send you my card so you can test it for me. He hung up, the pathetic scammer country.

    They called me and was 100% a scam pretending to be Telstra. They were actually pretty convincing (I like to let them go on for a bit then rip them to shreds because I work in IT). Be very cautious.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
