    Claimed to be from a company called Eco solution in WA, talking about energy company rebates and solar. I let person talk for a while and then questioned where they were calling from, local time and their name. He hesitated and stuttered obviously following a script. Name was different and asked it there was a problem, I questioned what Eco Solutions do while I was doing a web search. Again he stuttered and asked if something was wrong. I told him the called ID had a different area code to WA, moments later the call disconnected.

    Running a scam pretending an amount will be debited from your account and you must claim a refund. Gives options to connect to a caller, which will likely put you in touch with a scammer, who will try to get remote access to your computer and try have you log into your bank or something pathetic like that.

    SCAM? Received call from a representative from "Telstra" telling me they were concerned about online activity emanating from the United States but linked to my IP address in Australia. He asked me to confirm which devices were currently connected to my home network. I asked him to tell me what my IP address was he was concerned about. He said he couldn't over the phone due to "security". I said "I don't believe you" and he said he would email me with the info and call back in one hour.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
