    Called about my National Broadband Network (which I don't have LOL) and saying that some people from overseas are tampering with my Internet. The call dropped or they hung up because he saw that I was very sarcastic.

    Claimed to be calling from National Broadband Network as there was an issue with my service (I think they said unauthorised access to my service - how ironic!). Noisy call centre.

    Apparently I have an Amazon account and if I don't want to be charged $99.00 then I had better speak to customer service to give them all my personal details to cancel it! What a joke. How does anyone fall for these scammers and give them their info?

    I have had 6 or 7 very dodgy calls from this and other numbers in the last 3 days claiming to be from Telstra when they clearly are not. They do not give me their name and they do not know mine.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
