Recorded message saying they were from Mastercard and that an overseas payment of $1000 was waiting to be processed. Press 1 to approve and 2 to report scam.
It appears their strategy is to con people into allowing remote access to their computer in order to stop the "billing renewal" - needless to say, once they have access they will be doing all sorts of interesting things behind the scenes. The same scammers seem to be using 0480 003 387.
I answered a call from this number, it began with a recorded message that my Amazon Prime renewal for $99 would be due to come out of my account tomorrow and if I didn't want that to happen to "press 1" so I did and got someone with a strong accent not easy to understand. The short story is it was obviously a scam, he talked me through the process of opening a browser and going to a site to download software to allow remote access, at which point I told him he was a scammer and to fornicate himself before hanging up on him.
Scam, first claimed to be from Visa Mastercard, said someone in California was using my card to buy things from eBay and Amazon, then asked for what bank I'm with, obviously a scam.
Getting so sick of these dodgy callers. I wonder if they'd remove my number from their hit lists if I changed my voicemail to say "Leave your message for Detective Jones after the tone"
Rude, pushy, said she was calling about our National Broadband Network connection which we don’t have. When questioned, she told me to ‘shut up’ and hung up … blocked this caller. Gosh, why do these companies bother to pay people to call random people and give them grief? If they are genuine, why so rude? What’s happened to our country? Sad.
