I got a scam call from 07 3517 6230. He kept saying my full name and wanting to confirm it was me before he proceeded, which I did and regret. He then said his name was Steve Dobson and he was called from Aussie something about my current electricity account. I told him I don't have an electricity account with you, I'm not the homeowner. And he hung up on me. When I called back to tell him to take me off the list, Optus advises that the number is disconnected. It's definitely a scam call.
Man with Indian accent claiming to be from AGL, said would send code to phone. Went to AGL website, got legitimate text. He needed code to access account. I fell for it and gave code, he accessed address and email. Realised scam, changed password and turned on two-factor auth
I answered a call from this number and they were claiming to be AGL (who I have an account with) they proceeded to confirm my address (which they already had they just asked me to confirm that is my address I have the account with) they then sent a code to my phone and asked me to read it back to them. The code came in the same message as all of my 'real' AGL codes and messages came from so I thought it must be legit. They then asked me to read the codes they sent back to them which I stupidly did. They had access to my account and were able to confirm all of the details of the account and also asked me to confirm my DOB. He then went on to tell me that they were updating the plans and that I was on an expensive rate and that the cheapest in the area is actually Origin. I then said so you don't work for AGL and he said yes I have worked for AGL for 20 years but I also work for other companies and he tried to get me to sign up with Origin (he was very pushy). I then knew something was not right and said I'm not going to sign anything or do anything without doing my research and I have to go. He said he will call back tonight after 5 pm and discuss it further. I called AGL and confirmed that it was NOT them. I am now hoping I am not compromised in anyway.
