    FRAUD - do not give any details!!! If any calls have a 3+ second delay in them talking - it is a SCAM. This one is claiming AGL and that your account is in debt. Knew straight away it was a scam - we have 4 accounts with AGL - both electricity and Internet (all in credit) but they could not tell me which account unless I answered their ID verification of my personal details.

    A guy called Dillon said it is AGL and was calling about my overdue amount. He asked me if I knew and I asked him what it was and he said he cant access that information right now??? Red Flag, then he asked me if I want to make a payment over the phone haha. I am going to call AGL now and report it.

    Answered the phone, nobody on the other end, just a few clicks, probably spam. I’ve blocked the number.

    I just called them back. Supposedly AGL. What a surprise. It appears that everyone who works at AGL has a strong Indian accent. These scammers are as dumb as they sound.

    Scam caller claiming to be from AGL. Trying to put me in touch with the overdue accounts department who can assist me with the payment of my electricity bill. Again Kolcata calling. Heavy Indian accent, and even without that as a clue to the nature of the call a really dumb and lazy scammer. Hang up or mess with their head for a while then hang up.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
